I feel bad for doing this too the poor ant, but the opportunity was hard to pass up. I tried to kill it quickly while still preserving it, but it didn’t go so well as you will see. As usual these are filmed with a hand held camera through the eyepiece. Please Enjoy.

Insects lack the nervous system and brain function to identify pain. In the case of ants (a social insect) no pain is a good thing, because they are suppose to protect the colony, were pain would have a detrimental effect on that.
I’ve always wondered if wee beasties like this feel pain or not.

I knew what your point was. I would agree with you that a human life is more valuable then an ants. But I would not under value the ants life as completely meaningless, it may not be aware, but I am aware of its existence for it. Its really a simple concept, all life deserves consideration.

Nooooo, what I said was akin to this: “Remember when you were a baby, lik whan you were 1 year old? No, of course you don’t, because you had no self awareness”. It is basically the only way I can make you understand what it is like; you are alive, but all of your actions are based on instinct, and you have no thoughts or memories or realization of your own existence…
Your logic suggests killing a baby is equivalent to killing an ant. The point is not so much the ant being killed, but that I makes me a killer. If I do not have remorse for killing what kind of person am I? If average human being unknowingly kills many things a day, being aware of this and other things in my opinion is an accomplishment. Being able to feel for a lesser being is the same. Imagine if everyone had the same value for life.
Let me rephrase: It does not even know it is alive. Kind of like how as a baby we do not even have awareness of our own existence.
So even tho you killed it, it was not thinking “oh man, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die.”
It just walks around & picks up food & eats & dumps, all by instinct, and not by thought. You killed something with no feelings, emotions, thoughts, or self awareness. Not much different than using disinfectant soap on your hands to kill bacteria…
Well obvious you can’t regret something after your dead. That is the person that killed ‘whatever’s’ fault. Whether it knew it was dying or not, or even what death is, I’m not even sure if they feel pain, yet watching the video I can’t help but to see a ant screaming in pain, and if that’s not something to feel bad about then nothing is.
Dude, the ant is not evn self aware; it is not even conscious of it’s own existence, so it did not even know it was alive and therefore it did not regret being killed.
So really, don’t even worry about it…
… keeps you in touch with the impact your daily life has on the planet. I do give a crap about this particular ant because I know that I am 100% behind the creatures death, and I have remorse for it, one reason you don’t see any more video of living insects on my channel.
That’s a good idea wish I had thought about it, but I didn’t have the tools to do that really just a microscope i just bought. Anyways being under that hot light for a long time would of probably resulted in death, not to mention it was torture. Like i said if i knew chopping its head off would of let it alive for a long time suffering, I would have thought twice about doing it. I know when I am out walking/driving that ill inevitability kill something, but thinking about them on occasion …

I’m not hypocritical, and I’m not saying you have to go out of your way to save ants or other species, but you should at least have respect for them, and if i want to feel bad for what I did to this poor ant, then good for me.
