Colonoscopy – colon cancer screening

www.socalgastroenterologist.com Informational video about colonoscopy and colon screening. Colonoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the large colon and the distal part of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. It may provide a visual diagnosis (eg ulceration, polyps) and grants the opportunity for biopsy or removal of suspected lesions. Virtual colonoscopy, which uses 2D and 3D imagery reconstructed from computed tomography (CT) scans or from nuclear magnetic resonance (MR) scans, is also possible, as a totally non-invasive medical test, although it is not standard and still under investigation regarding its diagnostic abilities. Furthermore, virtual colonoscopy does not allow for therapeutic maneuvers such as polyp/tumor removal or biopsy nor visualization of lesions smaller than 5 millimeters. If a growth or polyp is detected using CT colonography, a standard colonoscopy would still need to be performed. Colonoscopy can remove polyps smaller than one millimeter. Once polyps are removed, they can be studied with the aid of a microscope to determine if they are precancerous or not. Colonoscopy is similar but not the same as sigmoidoscopy. The difference between colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy is related to which parts of the colon each can examine. Sigmoidoscopy allows doctors to view only the final two feet of the colon, while colonoscopy allows an examination of the entire colon, which measures four to

Did Royal Rife Cure Cancer in the 1930’s?

The American Medical Association’s ‘Lost’ Cancer Cure

Did Royal Raymond Rife cure cancer in the 1930s?

You might not think that engineering would have anything to do with medicine, but it does. What it has in common is a brilliant researcher named Royal Raymond Rife, who was a genius in many fields of engineering and researched cures for cancer over his varied career. Your understanding of disease will go through a drastic shift as you follow Rife’s story.

You may have heard about what Rife did with frequency generators – he’s pretty well known for that work, but this story starts in 1915, in San Diego.

Royal Raymond Rife was fresh out of college when he developed a friendship with Henry Timken that would make the world a different place.

Henry Timken was a businessman who developed an empire in the ball-bearing industry. Royal Rife had expertise in virtually all areas of engineering, including optical and mechanical engineering. He actually built a record breaking boat motor with a remarkable 2700 horsepower in 1915! He called it “Kitty Hawk the Fifth” and it held records in America for years.

Rife’s Millions of Dollars For Research in the 1920’s

The story continues as Rife developed an X-Ray eye to precisely monitor quality control over Timken’s entire ball-bearing production line. Rife’s X-Ray eye saved Timken billions of dollars, and he gifted Rife with a lucrative research budget as thanks for his breakthrough.

With this deep pocket budget Rife built a research lab in San Diego in the 1920’s. His expertise in such diverse areas of engineering allowed him to excel quickly and build every part he needed in his own machine shop. Rife set his sights on cancer.

By the early 1930’s Rife had built microscopes capable of viewing living viruses, and he found that each type of virus pulsed with an identifying frequency. He believed he could find frequencies which would be disruptive to the growth of the virus and thus dissolve the tumor. He called these frequencies the ‘Mortal Oscillatory Rate’ or M.O.R. for short. The M.O.R. frequency was Rife’s ‘kill’ frequency.

In the laboratory Rife found two viruses which were always present with cancerous tumors. He called one of these viruses the ‘BX virus’ that he correlated to carcinoma. The other virus, which he had correlated to sarcoma, he called the ‘BY virus’.

Rife’s work in this field has essentially vanished from the radar screen of the general public and the medical establishment. Why? Click here for part two (link here) of this report, to find out more about this overlooked hero.

Colon Cancer: What is a Colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy is one of the least invasive endoscopic investigations of the large colon and the distal section of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a tube that is flexible enough to be inserted through the anus. It may give a visual diagnosis (for example ulceration, polyps) and gives the opportunity for biopsy or the removal of any suspected lesions. Before a colonoscopy, patients have to under colonoscopy prep or colonoscopy preparation. Virtual colonoscopy, which makes use of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional images reconstructed using CT scans or from MR scans, is also an option, as an entirely non-invasive test, although it is not regarded as standard and still requires investigation in relation to its diagnostic capabilities. In addition to this, virtual colonoscopy restricts therapeutic maneuvers including the removal of polyp and/or tumors or biopsy nor visualisation of any lesions smaller in size than 5 millimeters. Once detected, a standard colonoscopy would be performed on a growth of polyp. Colonoscopy can be carried out to remove polyps that are smaller than one millimeter. Once a polyp is removed, further study can be carried out on it using a microscope. This will help to determine wether or not if the polyp is precancerous. Colonoscopy has some similaries to sigmoidoscopy, but they are no the same. The difference is that the procedures are carried out on the same parts of the colon. However, Sigmoidsocopy only allows for the viewing of the final 2 feet of the colon, whilst colonoscopy allows for the examination of the whole colon. This is often 4 to 5 feet in length.

Insight Into Skin Cancer Treatments

There are several options available for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. The following are the normal procedures employed to determine whether a patient has skin cancer:

· Skin examination by a qualified individual to check for bumps or spots that may look unusual in terms of color, size, shape, or texture.

· A pathological examination (biopsy) procedure on a portion of the abnormal-looking growth to determine the presence of cancer cells. This can be accomplished in any of 3 methods: shave biopsy wherein a surgical razor is used to shave-off parts of the suspected growth; punch biopsy wherein an instrument called a trephine is used to remove a circle of tissue from the growth and excisional biopsy wherein the entire growth is removed surgically with the use of a scalpel.

Treatment and recovery of skin cancer depends significantly on the conditions or stage of the cancer, there is no sure fire method of treating and managing skin cancer as each case is unique to the individual and is also influenced by factors such as the type of the cancer, location and size of the tumor (whether it has metastasized or not) and the patient’s overall health and physical condition.

In the traditional method of treatment, there are four options available.

Surgery: There are various surgical procedures employed for the treatment of the non-melanoma type of skin cancer.

· For superficial skin cancer Mohs micrographic surgery is the most common procedure wherein the tumor is gradually incised from the affected area of the skin in very thin layers and examined microscopically to verify the presence or absence of cancer cells. The procedure continues until the presence of cancer cells is negative.

· Simple excision is the surgical removal of a tumor including some of the surrounding skin tissues.

· Shaving the surface of the affected skin area with a surgical blade.

· Cutting the tumor from the skin with a sharp tool resembling a small spoon and then treating the edges of the immediate area of the cut with electrical current to stop and control bleeding and destroy remaining cancer cells.

· Another option is cryosurgery whereby the abnormal tissues are destroyed through freezing.

· Using laser to cut affected skin tissue or remove malignant tumor.

· Removal of the top layer of skin using a sander-type tool or skin defoliants to remove affected skin cells.

Radiation: Radiation cancer treatment therapy is the use of x-rays or radiation to destroy cancer cells. These can either be external by using a machine outside of the body or internal by introducing radioactive elements into or near the affected area.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to control the spread of cancer cells in the body. It can either be applied topically as a cream or lotion, orally or by intravenous and/or intramuscular injection into the patient’s vein or muscle.

Photodynamic Therapy: The use of drugs in combination with laser to destroy cancer cells. The drug is injected into the patient’s vein and remains inactive until it is subjected to laser via fiber optic tubes at which time it becomes active and kills the cancer cells.

There is one thing in common with all of the above mentioned traditional treatment options for skin cancer – they are generally invasive.

Although there is nothing wrong with the methodology, alternative methods of skin cancer treatment, which are now gaining acceptance in the West, espouse a holistic approach in the treatment of skin cancer or an illness. A holistic approach is geared towards the mental, physical and emotion aspects of the patient and not just the physical symptoms of the illness.

They proceed from the premise that an individual gets sick simply because his immune system is weak and can not fight the virus that attacks the system. For treatment to be successful, it is therefore necessary to strengthen a person’s immune system including emotional and physical resources in order to combat threats to the body.

In the traditional model of Western medicine, once skin cancer is diagnosed and determined the only acceptable form of treatment is the clinical model. However, a study of the alternative approaches to prevention and treatment reveal that in consonance with the traditional method both can be very effective in treating advanced skin cancer.

Medical experts are aware that certain minerals and antioxidant vitamins that can be derived from fruits and vegetables help repair damaged body tissues and promote the regeneration of healthy skin.

Now, medical practitioners are advocating the use of alternative methods of skin cancer prevention and treatment through a healthy diet and active lifestyle in order to protect individuals from the harmful effects of sunlight – the number one factor directly related to skin cancer development.

An active and healthy lifestyle and regular exercise is necessary in order to combat skin cancer since even stress cause the weakening of the immune system which then makes individuals more prone to sickness.

With proper exercise such as yoga, tai chi, running and even acupuncture, the body’s immune system can be made stronger even if skin cancer is already at an advanced stage.

Coupled with a healthy and nutritious diet, individuals stand a better chance to fight skin cancer and strengthen the immune system to fight off the malignant cancer cells.

One of the more promising discoveries is the effect of green tea towards skin cancer. Taken orally or applied topically, green tea shows a striking effect on the skin in relation to cancer and carcinogens because it is a natural antioxidant. Green tea antioxidants (medical term green tea polyphenols) show a remarkable ability to prevent and inhibit the growth of various types of skin cancers from basal cell carcinoma to melanoma in tests carried out on animals and human patients.

However, those already suffering from skin cancer should never self medicate. It is good practice to consult with your doctor regarding the use of traditional and alternative form of treatments since there may be an interference effect between the two when taken together. Discussing any alternative treatment options with your cancer doctor ensures faster recovery and future prevention.

Alternative Brain Cancer Treatment

Brain cancer is a disease which starts with just one cell but this grows and makes more copies of itself and grows as a tumor which is known as swelling. We are here to help you to need support the most. This brain cancer is of two types that is primary and secondary brain cancer.

Man is bounded with all the pollutions and he is getting addicted or captivated to many diseases. He is inventing or knowing new things in the same way they are leading him to the capture of new diseases. In the previous days the cancer was known as deadly disease and the people were trembling with the word itself. But now days as the science is getting advanced the healers are also in number to heal the disease without loss of life and suffer.
For more information: dr jack

The brain is one of the core parts of the body. It is an essential part of our body. It is here that all the parts of the body are controlled. This is also the tissue that is made up of individual cells and cannot view with our naked eyes and a microscope is used to see them. This brain cancer cells are the smallest units which compose the brain. This is the cancer which can appear from any part of the cell in the brain. These cells are the abnormal growth of cells in the brain.

Brain cancer is of two that is primary brain cancer and the secondary brain cancer. The primary brain cancer is the cancer which originates in the brain and spreads to the parts of the brain. It is developed within the brain itself. The secondary brain cancer is the cancer which originates in other parts of the body such as lungs, pancreases, bone or others and spreads to the brain.

The symptoms of this brain cancer are headache, nausea or vomiting, difficulty of speaking or thinking words, disturbed in vision, smell, hearing or taste, weakness in the parts of body, loss of balance, drowsiness, irritability, or personality changes, convulsions like loss of consciousness or muscle spasm, weakness, difficulty walking, seizures, and others. So it is an urge need if you or your dear one is suffering with these symptoms then they have to get primary treatment and not allow to spread them.

The causes for this brain cancer are many. Some of them are having rare family diseases which makes risk for brain tumors, heavy exposure to the chemicals, disclosure to radiations are connected to this occur of brain cancers and others brain related diseases. The person is considered to be at higher risk if he is of young age and if it is at a higher dose in the disease.

Ya when we hear that we or our dear one is suffering with this disease we emotionally feel very difficult to cope with. The life completely changes. The people around us react differently but we should not feel alone and loose hopes of getting heal with it. If we have a hope of healing it then it there is no matter of what stage the cancer is. So it is believed that hope is the only great healing tool for the cancer survivors. Now as the science is advanced the people are realizing that they have many types of health cares that they can receive and get cured with the deadly chronic diseases.

The person when he is diagnosed with the brain cancer may not get the correct treatment for it. He searches for the suggestions and the runs to the various physicians prescribed by his dear ones. But the patient must be careful while choosing his physician at this stage. He must be careful and should choose the right physician for him so that he may not undergo the second attempt of treatment if the first treatment did not well respond to his disease. So he should be precise in taking the right decision for his treatment from the physician whom he has chosen. There are many kinds of treatment which are followed to cure the diseases. But we at our center heal your suffer with the natural dietary supplements that are made of the herbal products. These medications have been proved as the miraculous improvements in the healing of the diseases.

But it is true that patient becomes panic when he listens that he has been attacked with this deadly disease. So, it is he who makes up his mind and have a firm mind that he will get out of it and get treated with it no crisis. In a medical research has shown that alternative medical care that makes feel right to them heal better than patients who take the allopathic medications.

Now a days people believe that the serious or the chronic diseases can be cured with the therapies which improve the immune system and restore the body systems. They have recognized that the therapies really work and stand sharp contrast to the debilitating and often the unsuccessful in the results of chemotherapy and radiation. Many patients are now seeking and coming forth to have these alternative or the complementary treatments for these kinds of diseases that are often considered as incurable by convention doctors. Many have got their health back with these types of therapies.
The effective alternative therapies are now available that offer patients a new hope for healing and restoring their health. Nutritional medicine, detoxification therapies, lifestyle changes and psychological healing are but a few of the choices available today. These powerful therapies aim to restore the natural wisdom of the body. This is the future of medicine which is becoming the choices for better health.
The medical treatment that is provided at our center is focused on the whole person not only with what he is suffering. The modern treatments consider or stress mainly on curing the symptom or killing the cancerous tumor with powerful treatments. They do not consider about the recurrence of the disease as they feel that the cancer causing cells are destroyed and there is no chance of getting the diseases again. But when the man suffers with this cancer he also has many other diseases with it. So, the cure of these diseases is also needed. The natural therapies not only cure the disease but also make the person to come out of the other related diseases.

Dr Jack is a Conventionally Trained Western Medical Doctor from India and fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He is also trained in traditional supplements since the age of 5 to practice complimentary alternate supplements.

Breast Cancer Treatment Abroad

WHAT IS BREAST CANCER?
Your body is made up of many types of cells. In normal course, cells grow, divide, and produce more cells to keep your body healthy. However, at times, this process may not function properly and cells may become abnormal, forming more cells, in an uncontrolled manner. These extra cells form a mass of tissue, called a growth or a ‘tumour’. Tumours can be benign, which means non cancerous, or malignant, which means cancerous. Breast cancer occurs when a malignant tumour forms in the tissue of your breast. According to the site of origin of these cancerous cells, breast cancer is classified into various types. The most common types of breast cancer originate in either the breast’s milk ducts (ductal carcinoma) or lobules (lobular carcinoma). The point of origin is determined by the microscopic appearance of the cancer cells from a biopsy.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER?
The most common symptom is a lump in the breast. However, there can be other physical changes in the appearance of the breast. Some of these are :

Breast lump or breast mass – usually painless, firm to hard in consistency
Lump or mass in the armpit
A Change in the size or shape of the breast
Abnormal nipple discharge
Usually bloody or clear-to-yellow or green fluid
May look like pus (purulent)
Change in the colour or feel of the skin of your breast, nipple, or areola (area around the nipple)
Dimpled, puckered, or scaly
Retraction, “orange peel” appearance
Redness
Accentuated veins on breast surface
Change in appearance or sensation of the nipple
Pulled in (retraction), enlargement, or itching
Breast pain, enlargement, or discomfort on one side only

If you have any of the symptoms mentioned above, your doctor will ask for a detailed medical history and you will have to undergo a physical examination. You will also be recommended tests such as a mammogram or other imaging tests, like Ultrasound or MRI.

HOW IS BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSED?
An early diagnosis is the best way to cure breast cancer. By learning the technique of breast self examination and by undergoing periodic mammographies (a kind of X-ray technique for the breast) you can detect a tumour in its earliest stage.

Routine Mammography
A mammogram is an X-ray of your breast. It is a safe and painless procedure that is able to detect cancers at a very early stage. After 30 years of age, a woman should undergo a routine mammogram once in every five years. After 40 years of age, a woman should get this test done annually. If a woman has a family history of breast cancer, she should start going in for routine mamographies even before the age of 40.

Imaging Tests
These are some of the imaging tests. Your doctor will recommend one or more, depending on her diagnosis.

Mammogarm: As described above, it is an X-ray technique for detection of breast cancers. Some advanced techniques of mammography like optical mammography are more accurate and easier to perform.

Breast ultrasound: This imaging is also called a Sonogram. It will also tell whether the lump is fluid-filled cyst (generally non cancerous) or is a solid tissue (tumour).

Biopsy: A biopsy would be required to find out whether the tumour is benign or malignant. It will also help your doctor, identify the type of cancer cells. In biopsy, a sample of tissue will be taken from the breast lump. The process of tissue collection is a simple process and your doctor will use a needle for the same. The sample tissue will then be examined under a microscope to detect cancerous cells.

If the biopsy confirms the presence of cancerous cells, some other tests will have to be done to find the extent of the cancer spread and also to help your doctor determine the further course of treatment. Your doctor might ask to get one or all of the following tests done.

Chest X-ray: A chest X-ray will determine whether the breast cancer has spread to the lungs or not.

Bone scan: This test will be prescribed only if you have pain in the bones or if there are changes in the blood tests or if the disease is  in  an advanced stage.  Bone scan will  provide information about the spread of the cancer to the bones.

CT scan: Your doctor might ask you to get a CT scan of the abdomen or chest done to detect the spread of cancer to other organs.

Blood tests: A series of these tests will be done to detect the presence of cancer, its spread and also to determine the future course of its treatment. Some of the blood tests which your doctor might suggest are:

Complete blood count (CBC): Abnormal test results like anaemia, could suggest that the cancer has spread to the bone marrow. After chemotherapy, this test follows up the effect of the therapy on the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.

Blood chemical and enzyme tests: These tests will only be prescribed by your doctor, if she suspects that cancer has spread to the bone or liver.

HOW IS BREAST CANCER TREATED?
Based on the reports and other findings, the doctor will assign a grade and a stage to the cancer. This classification will help her in selecting the right treatment option. She will select from the following course of treatments:

Surgery

It is the most common treatment for breast cancer. From the below mentioned two options, the doctor will choose one. Her choice will depend on the stage and grade of cancer.

Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy and radiotherapy)
Mastectomy (removal of the entire breast).
Lumpectomy will remove only the breast lump and a rim of normal surrounding breast tissue.
Mastectomy will remove the entire breast, including the nipple.

Radiation Therapy
This therapy will follow the breast surgery to kill any remaining cancerous cells in the breast, chest wall, or lymph nodes. It is usually given five days a week, for six to seven weeks. Radiation is used in most cases of breast conserving therapy. It is also used sometimes after mastectomy.

Chemotherapy
In this form of treatment, cancer-fighting drugs will be given, either intravenously (injected into a vein) or orally. The drugs will be given in cycles with intervals of two or three weeks in between. These cycles, generally last for a total time of three to six months, depending on the drugs used by your doctor.

Hormone therapy
This treatment will be only suggested by your doctor if the cancer is hormone positive. Also, your doctor might recommend it in the following situations:

As an add-on therapy with or without chemotherapy to kill any remaining breast cancer cells after surgery.

As the main therapy, if cancer is present even after the surgery or when cancer strikes back, months or years after surgery.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF TREATMENT?
After surgery the skin in the breast area may be tight, and the muscles of the arm and shoulder may feel stiff. Your doctor, nurse, or physical therapist will recommend exercises to help regain movement and strength in the arm and shoulder. Radiation can cause changes in the appearance of the skin of the breast. Also there could be mild problems like dryness, pain and irritation. There will be certain side effects of chemotherapy like loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, mouth sores, hair loss, and changes in menstrual cycle. It can also affect the blood producing cells of the bone marrow. But most of these side effects will be temporary and are usually manageable.

WHAT IS RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY?
Your doctor may suggest a reconstructive surgery to replace skin, breast tissue, and the nipple removed during mastectomy. This surgery will be done by a plastic surgeon. The objective of this surgery is to rebuild the appearance of the breast. It can be done at the same time when mastectomy is done (immediate breast reconstruction) or at a later date (delayed reconstruction). To create an artificial breast, surgeons will use saline-filled implants or tissue from other parts of your body.

PAIN MANAGEMENT
The management of pain is an integral part of cancer therapy. Medications are the cornerstone of cancer pain treatment, and their use is aimed at providing the greatest pain relief possible with the fewest number of side effects and the most ease of administration. Your doctor will prescribe a medication that ensures maximum pain relief. Sometimes the doctor might recommend some interventional procedures like surgery and/or injections.

FOLLOW UP CARE
In cancer treatment, follow up care is an essential element of the overall treatment plan. Regular checkups will be advised to detect any changes in the health as early as possible.

The Diagnosis of Lung Cancer

Many patients find that they have lung cancer either because they present symptoms such as persistent coughing and wheezing, sometimes coughing up blood or pain the chest and stomach. This usually prompts further investigation of the chest, typically calling for an x-ray (which may also occur as part of a routine health check) and the testing of sputum samples.

At this point more investigations will be called for dependent upon the results.

Detailed Diagnosis

The purpose of a chest radiograph or x-ray, is to detect enlarged lymph nodes in the chest or the existence of a mass in the lungs. More advanced techniques can be used to provide much more detailed information and include the following:

CAT Scan or CT Scan – a CT Scan is a computer assisted examination which provides a cross-sectional image of the body under examination;

MRI Scan – a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan uses hydrogen ions within the patient’s body which respond to magnetic fields when they are applied to the body or in this case, the chest. A computer then uses the results to create a chest image which allows for precise location of any mass which has been detected and whether it involves the lungs;

Bronchoscopy – this involves an examination of the airways (the windpipe and lung branches) and is usually conducted by a pulmonologist ( a physician who specializes in respiratory diseases). The examination may involve the taking of a swab from these areas or a biopsy (the removal of a tissue sample);

Needle Biopsy – a physician inserts a needle using the results of a CT Scan to guide where the needle, so a sample of tissue may be removed from the mass which has been detected; the tissue samples obtained are then “smeared” on a microscope slide and examined by a histopathologist to detect whether the cells are cancerous; and

Bone Scan – this test may be undertaken to check whether any cancer cells have spread (known as “metastasized”) to the bones from the original tumor.

A technological advancement is the CT/PET fusion imaging scan – this diagnostic tool uses an injected sugar solution which contains a radioactive element to highlight any cancerous mass. Cancer tumors are very fast growing and use a lot of energy so they rapidly absorb the sugar solution which is accumulates around and within the tumor. When a scan is then performed, the concentration of the radioactive sugar is detected and provides the location and detail of the cancer tumor. It should be borne in mind that there are other tissues which will cause the sugar solution to accumulate such as a bacterial infection, so even this test is not conclusive.

Once lung cancer has been diagnosed, the team of oncology physicians treating the patient will review the results to assess the treatment options for the lung cancer and to check whether any spread of the disease has occurred to other parts of the body. Where it is found the disease has not spread to other parts of the body, then a surgical inspection may take place to assess the disease in detail around the lungs, heart, windpipe and tissues of the chest. In addition, extensive blood tests will take place to look for cancer “markers” which are usually proteins that are associated with the development of lung cancer.

Find the rightlung cancer surgeon or mitral valve repair specialist. Early diagnosis can lead to successful results.
